For parents and carers
Should I be worried, and what do I do next?
Start with the free call. It costs nothing, and it commits you to nothing.
No clipboards and no drills. Mostly it looks like playing, because for a small child that is what learning looks like. I help with children who are hard to understand, children who are late to talk, children whose mouth will not cooperate, children who talk at home and go silent at school, children who find conversation hard work, children who learn language in whole chunks, and children who do not use speech yet.
More about how I work, or try the wondering about your child's talking? questions. It is not a test, and a child cannot fail it.

Wondering about your child's talking?
Children arrive at language on wildly different timetables. There is no track to be on. This will not tell you what is going on — but it might tell you whether a conversation is worth having.
This is not a test, and a child cannot fail it. It cannot see or hear your child. It is a prompt for a conversation, and nothing more.
Ticking fewer boxes does not mean something is wrong. Children really do differ, and this page knows nothing about yours. It cannot diagnose anything. If anything here worries you, speak to me, to your GP, or to your health visitor.
And this beats everything above it: if your instinct says something is up, trust it, and email me anyway.
